SPL Director and M. Alemán Velasco Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Dr. Paulo Lozano, was quoted in a recent article in NPR’s technology section, titled “We asked the new AI to do some simple rocket science. It crashed and burned”. The article focused on the ability, or lackthereof, of OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT to answer questions about rocket propulsion, prompting further discussion on the larger role that computers and article intelligence plays in rocket propulsion.
